Simply put, 20 Causes, 20 Days is a project I put together to inspire people that a minimal amount of effort on their parts can go a long way to make our entire community a better place.
It’s about volunteering. Setting the DVR and taking a few hours out of your week to give back to a cause or a charity that you are passionate about.
I am volunteering my time at 20 different local causes and documenting my experiences at each. At every volunteer event, I learn something profound about people, our community, and myself. Every experience is truly gratifying, and it feels good to know that a small piece of time from my already busy schedule can make a HUGE difference to those who are less fortunate.
I created and successfully executed the project last winter. This year, I wanted to allow others to join me in this experience so I made it my goal to bring five volunteers with me to each cause. I will be the common denominator at each of the 20 causes, but at the end my goal is to have inspired 100 people to volunteer alongside me.
The inspiration behind 20 Causes, 20 Days is threefold: I wanted to help others, I wanted to challenge myself and work outside of my comfort zone, and I wanted to fulfill a dream that my mom had about me before she passed away.
It’s definitely a challenge, but without challenge, we are without growth.
I hope you follow each step of this adventure. Join me in volunteering, comment on posts, follow the project on social media, tell a friend.
There are a lot of noble causes devoted to helping people in other countries. But the fact is that people can use our help right here in our own backyard. We can take control of making our community a better place. 20 Causes, 20 Days strives to be a catalyst for us to work together to accomplish that goal.
